YSLA architects

Takeshi Yamamura: Architect. PhD (Architecture). Born in 1984. Earned his doctorate at the Waseda University School of Creative Science and Engineering. Teaches as an associate professor at the Tokyo Polytechnic University. Personal Awards include the AIJ Young Researcher Award 2021. Natalia Sanz Laviña: Architect. Born in 1982. Holds a master’s degree from the ETSAB Barcelona School of Architecture. Worked at Kengo Kuma and Associates from 2008 till 2017 before cofounding YSLA . Currently teaches as a part-time lecturer of environmental architecture at the Chuo University Faculty of Science and Engineering. YSLA is an architecture and design multilingual office established in Tokyo by Natalia Sanz Laviña and Takeshi Yamamura after living in New York, Barcelona and Paris among other cities that has been designing architecture, interiors, and event spaces. YSLA design enhances life through the generosity of space providing a unique sense of wellbeing. As a result of our experience teaching design and architecture theory at Japanese universities we believe in the use of culture to improve and imagine alternative spaces and futures.
